Mike Jones

SFC Michael K. Jones, ARNG, Ret.

Mike Jones, 66, of Gainesville, passed away May 30, 2022 in Dallas.

Mike was born October 1, 1955 in Gainesville.  He served in the Navy but spent most of his life and retired from the Army National Guard.  Mike also worked in maintenance at the state school for over 20 years.  He married Katrina Meyer on December 8, 2021 in Denton.  In his free time, he enjoyed tanks, motorcycles, and anything that went “boom”.  Mike also participated in lots of children’s charity work, toy runs, and being Santa Claus.

Mike was preceded in death by: parents Teddy Joe and Shirley Marlene (Koonce) Jones; and brother-in-law Joseph Paul Perschica.

Survivors include: wife Katrina A. Jones of Gainesville; daughter Crystal Monique Smith of Pennsylvania; daughter Katherine Bernadette Camburn and husband Sean Christian Camburn of Pennsylvania; daughter Kira Dawn Marcello of Sanger; son T.J. Brandom and wife Bree of Alabama; daughter Crystal Ann Covert of Gainesville; son Chris Covert and his wife of Ohio; daughter Amber Richardson and husband Patrick of Gainesville; numerous children he took under his wing; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 8 nieces and nephews; sister Melvina Byerly and husband Bubba of Thackerville, OK; brother David Jones and wife Susan of Gainesville; and sister Georgianna Perschica of Gainesville.

A memorial service is scheduled for Noon on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at First Christian Church of Gainesville.  Potluck food is welcome.
