Nancy Chaney

A service memorializing the life of Nancy Anita Chaney, 79, of Gainesville, is scheduled for 3:30 PM on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Wiley Sullivan officiating.  The family will receive friends beginning at 2:30 PM.

Mrs. Chaney entered heaven on October 21, 2020 in Gainesville.

Nancy was born on April 1, 1941 in Little Elm, TX to C.E. & Joyce Jordan.  She married Harold Chaney on November 24, 1961 in Fort Worth and they made their home in Gainesville.  Nancy was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  Her favorite past time was supporting her daughters and grandchildren in their many activities.  She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.  Nancy was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville and served in the church library for 40 years.  She was an avid reader, always having a book close by.  At other times, Nancy was found in the kitchen making her grandchildren's favorite chicken ‘n’ dumplings.  She loved music, her family, and chocolate malts.

Mrs. Chaney was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her sister, Cleta Herring.

Survivors include: daughters and their husbands: Melissa & Rusty Guest of Fayetteville, GA and Judi & Doug Rogers of Gainesville; her grandchildren: Jordan Guest, Tim & Suzanne Farr, Whitney Guest, Chaney Farr, Carson Guest, and Samantha Rogers; her great-granddaughter, Kaden Farr; her sister Pat Knipp of Hurst; her nieces and nephew and numerous cousins.
