Nicolaus Alex Syring, 77, of Gainesville, passed away January 27, 2019 in Gainesville.
Nick was born August 23, 1941 in San Antonio to Benjamin Joseph and Aurelia Hedwig (Scheel) Syring. He attended school in Kendalia and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. On April 5, 1997, Mr. Syring married Marguerite Wolgamott in New Braunfels. He had a long and successful career and a long-haul trucker, visiting all lower-48 states, Canada, and Mexico. Mr. Syring drove over 10 million miles and received many “Safest Driver” awards. He enjoyed cooking, smoking BBQ, and maintaining his landscaping. A long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church, Mr. Syring was saved in 1982 and truly loved his Lord.
Survivors include: wife Marguerite Syring of Gainesville; daughter Lori Colburn of Nebraska; son David Syring; daughter Nicole Syring of Nebraska; daughter Dawn Syring of Nebraska; son David Harless and wife Vannah of Granite City, IL; son Cletus Boyd Johnson and Michelle of Conroe; daughter Varah Marie Beck and husband Doyle of Denton; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister Virginia Sanchez of Converse; brother Arthur Syring and wife Vena of Burlington, KS; brother Benjamin Syring of David City, NE; brother Joseph Syring of Burlington, KS; sister Bernadette Sullivent and husband Robert of Sugar Land; sister Martha Syring of Conroe; brother Stephen Syring and wife Kathleen of San Antonio; brother Jerome Syring of San Antonio; sister Mary Elis and husband Steve of Pasadena; and brother James Syring and wife Patti of Spring.
Mr. Syring was preceded in death by: his parents; brother Anthony Syring; sister Angie Timmermann; and brother Herbert Syring.
A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
