Nora M. (Headrick) Lee

Nora Headrick Lee was born November 9, 1936 in Gainesville, Texas to Fannie Skeans Headrick and Lester O’Dell Headrick.  She is survived by her husband, Lyndon Lee of Denton, son Chuck Lee and his wife Gail of Carrollton, son Dennis Lee of Irving, daughter Lisa Lee of Denton, brother Lester Headrick and his wife Carole Headrick of Midland, sister Joan Monahan of Tyler, sister-in-law Rhonda Headrick and sister-in-law Tena Lee, both of Gainesville, Texas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Helen Clark, sister Mary Simmons, sister Sue Wiley, brother Jerry Headrick, and sister Dorothy Jean Headrick.  Nora passed away on April 11, 2018 in Denton of natural causes.  She went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Nora graduated from Gainesville High School in 1954 and attended Gainesville Junior College where she studied nursing.  She worked as a nurse at Gainesville Memorial Hospital.  Additionally, she studied Cosmetology at Flatts Beauty College.

Nora met and married Charles Lyndon Lee on June 15, 1957 in Gainesville Texas.  After their marriage, they lived in Peoria, Illinois where their son Chuck was born on June 8, 1959.  Years later, they moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where their son Dennis was born on September 3, 1963. Eighteen months later, they moved to North Richland Hills, Texas where Lisa was born on April 22, 1967. Shortly thereafter, the family was transferred to Washington, DC for a period of two years before returning to Dallas where they remained for twenty-seven years.

Nora was honored by President George W. Bush for volunteering 4000 + hours in service to the Special Citizens of Cooke County through her work with Buried Treasure of Gainesville, co-directed by her husband Lyndon.

She helped to obtain a historical marker for Oak Grove Cemetery, located in Gainesville, in 2005.

Nora loved all things butterflies!  This was one of her favorite quotes by author Charles Colson: “The butterfly is nature’s most visible illustration of rebirth.  Once drab and earthbound as a caterpillar, the butterfly emerges from its cocoon in beautifully radiant colors, soaring upward into the sky.  Free –BORN AGAIN—just as each of us can be when we are, through Christ, born again in the Spirit.”

A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Lee’s life is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville, with Rev. David Whittington officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.
