Norbert Mages

Funeral Mass for Norbert Mages, 90, of Lindsay, is set for 10:00 AM Monday, October 22, 2018 at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Matthew Tatyrek officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Peter’s Cemetery.  A rosary with visitation will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Mages passed away peacefully on October 16, 2018.

Norb was born March 24, 1928 to Joe and Theresa Bayer Mages in Muenster, TX.  He was raised there on the family farm and graduated from Sacred Heart High School.

After serving in the US Air Force from 1948 to 1952, Norb met and married Verna Kuhn.  They resided in Lindsay for their entire 62-year marriage.

Mr. Mages worked for National Supply for 30 years before retiring there, then worked another 20 years for Circuit Breaker Sales.  For over sixty years he served the City of Lindsay, the Lindsay School District and Saint Peter’s Parish in numerous capacities.

Norb is survived by his wife Verna, daughter Lisa Mages and her husband Richard McCandless of Washington D.C., daughter Melinda James of Lindsay, sisters Clara Schmitz, Albina Schmitz, Hank Dieter and Chubby Voth and her husband Jerome, and sister-in-law Joan Pulte.

Norb was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edgar Mages, sister Louise Schmidlkofer, sister Polly Pelzel, and son-in-law Gary James.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Dieter, Richard McCandless, Matt Pelzel, Scott Pulte, Marc Reiter, and Joe Schmitz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, VISTO, or Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter.
