Novie E. Brooks

Funeral services for Novie E. Brooks, 85, long-time resident of Ardmore, OK, most recently of Gainesville, TX, are scheduled for 3:00 PM on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Dorries officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, January 14 at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at DFW National Cemetery on a later date.

Mrs. Brooks passed away January 11, 2019 in Gainesville.

Novie was born July 27, 1933 in Marietta, OK to James Martin and Callie (Hilton) Dugger.  In 1950, she married John B. Brooks in Gainesville.  Mrs. Brooks was a military spouse for over 20 years and raised four sons.  She loved her church home and family at The Sanctuary Pentecostal Church in Ardmore.  She was involved with the senior groups of Dickson and Lone Grove for many years.  She was also a lifetime member of the Military Memorial Museum in Ardmore.  She enjoyed fitness, crocheting, and spending time with her beloved family.

Survivors include: son Lonnie Brooks and family of Gainesville, TX; son Johnny Brooks and family of Ardmore, OK; son Alan Brooks and family of Forney, TX; son Dennis Brooks and family of Denton, TX; many adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and sisters-in-law: Barbara Kern and Anna Lake.

Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by: her parents; husband of 48 years, John B. Brooks; three brothers; one sister, and one grandson.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are: Stephen Brooks, Shawn Brooks, Michael Watrous, Christopher Watrous, Joel Boyer, Jaron Boyer, and John Boyer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
