Otis Barthold

Graveside services for Clifton Otis Barthold, 87, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:30 PM on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Fairview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Barthold passed away August 8, 2020 in Gainesville.

Otis was born April 27, 1933 in Krum to Alvin Otis and Mary Alice (Bowery) Barthold.  He graduated from high school in Valley View.  Mr. Barthold served in Korea with the U.S. Army.  He worked with National Supply for over 30 years.  Mr. Barthold loved fishing and enjoyed hunting.  In recent years, he would diligently visit friends and family that may be in nursing facilities or homebound.

Survivors include: wife Mary Barthold of Gainesville; son Jerald Clifton and wife Irma of Grand Prairie; daughter Cindy “Consuelo” Marley and husband Rick of Rowlett; daughter Anna Hall; grandchildren: Brandi Hosking (Matt), Andrew Liedtke (Jade), Jonathan Liedtke, and Amber and her husband Steven; 11 great-grandchildren; brother David Barthold; brother Ardel Barthold; and sister Rita Gray.

Mr. Barthold was preceded in death by: his parents; step-mother Lilly Barthold; and sister Jean Miller.
