Patsy Ruth Laborde

Funeral services for Patsy Ruth LaBorde, 88, of Gainesville, will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Chet Burgess officiating.  Burial will follow in New Resthaven Cemetery.  A visitation is set for 6:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. LaBorde passed away August 17, 2021 at her home.  She was born January 11, 1933 in Gainesville, to General Lee and Ella Mae (Evans) Tutt.  She married Clyde Alvin LaBorde June 2, 1950 in Gainesville.

Patsy was employed at many places over her working years.  She was never afraid of hard work and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  At one time, she worked lacing and beading moccasins for a shoe factory, painted lures for Bomber Bait, cooked at Rad Ware Elementary, cleaned for Cooke County College, and was a regulator tester for Victor Equipment.  She also worked at Courtney’s, a women’s clothing store, JC Penney, and Bealls under numerous titles.  She cooked for Camp Sweeney for a couple of summers, too.

Mrs. LaBorde is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Janie and Jessie Swearingin of Woodbine; daughter Judy Dustin of Woodbine; daughter Nina Windom of Denton; daughter and son-in-law Ella and Ronnie Horner of Burns City; son and daughter-in-law Chip and Michelle LaBorde of Woodbine; daughter and son-in-law Laura and Andy Crockett of Woodbine; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother Milton Wayne Tutt.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Johnny Tutt.

Friends, family and yes, all of you grandkids too, have a vault full of moments, of recollections, that only you will recall; of special memories, some may bring a tear and some sadness, but some should also bring some smiles, too.  So, remember those good times, those fun times; dwell on those, share those, remember those, and pass them down.  Then make some of your own memories because someone who loves you is counting on you to do it.  Maybe not today, but someday when they look back and say, “If only I had taken the time…”
