Patsy Morris

Patsy Louise (Schneider) Morris, 82, passed away shortly after midnight on January 2, 2023.

Patsy was born on January 6, 1940, in Gainesville, TX to Ethel Glenn Schneider and Alfred Charles Schneider.  The youngest of six, she grew up in Fort Worth, but returned to Gainesville as a Junior in high school, where she met the love of her life, Eddie Frank Morris.  Patsy attended and graduated from North Texas State College in 1961.  She received her master’s degree from East Texas State University in 1971.

Patsy and Eddie married June 24, 1961, in Gainesville.  In 1962, they welcomed their first child, Brenda, and in 1964, their second child, Ron.  In 1976, Cathy was born to complete the family.

Patsy loved children, and devoted her life to all kids, teaching elementary school music and junior high choir in Archer City, Texas for 25 years.  She also served as choir director at the First United Methodist Church in Archer City for 18 years.  In 1992, she and Eddie returned to Gainesville where she taught kindergarten music for 3 years, then served as Christian Education Director at First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, as well as being heavily involved with the Children’s Ministry, as well as United Methodist Conference level missions work and curriculum training.  She retired in 2013.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, her stepdad Robert Aughtry, and one sister Margaret Hagler of Plano, Tx.  She is survived by her husband of 61 years, 4 siblings: Eugenia Hinds of Ft Worth, Evelyn Good of North Richland Hills, Joann Knight of Gainesville, and Charles Schneider of Arlington, and many nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by 3 children: Brenda Schlomach (Byron) of Piedmont, OK, Ron and wife Jennifer of Milledgeville, GA, and Cathy Rodriguez of Coppell, Tx.  She is also survived by 7 grandchildren…Valerie Stewart, Jacy Zeh, Erin, Stuart, and A.J. Schlomach, and Marcos and Mateo Rodriguez.  Patsy also had 4 great-grandchildren…Serenity, Jillian, and Jayden Stewart, and Annie Zeh.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Gainesville on Friday, January 6, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation at the church prior to the service at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Gainesville or the Alzheimer’s Association in her name.
