Paul Lynn Bentley, 81, of Gainesville, TX, passed away January 6, 2023 at his home in Gainesville surrounded by his family and two loyal dogs.

Mr. Bentley was born August 26, 1941 in Gainesville.  He graduated from Newsome Dougherty Memorial High School and served in the U.S. Air Force.  Mr. Bentley operated his family’s grocery store, Bentley’s Food Mart, then worked at Scivally’s Grocery for many years before retiring in 2020.  His favorite aspect of his career in the grocery business was his interaction with the public and clientele.  Mr. Bentley enjoyed caring for his animals over many years and his family’s vacations to Galveston Island.

Mr. Bentley was preceded in death by: parents Luther and Hazel (Reeves) Bentley; and brother Gary Bentley.

Survivors include: wife Connie (Idell) Bentley of Gainesville; daughter Sheri Stockwell and husband Phillip of Gainesville; daughter Lauri Bryan and husband Jeff of Gainesville; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister Diane Burleson of Denton.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Crossroads Baptist Church.  A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
