Philip “Phil” Sheridan Krum, III was born on June 3, 1954 in Baytown, Texas and passed away on March 22, 2022 at UT Southwestern Hospital in Dallas, Texas at the age of 67 years, 10 months, and 12 days.
Phil was born to Philip S. and Lorraine Krum, II and was the oldest of four siblings known as the “Krum Kids” growing up.
Phil joined the United States Army and proudly served his country for six years from 1972 to 1978. He was proud to be a military veteran.
After leaving the military, Phil moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where he began working at PPG and where he remained for 15 years, when he decided it was time to pursue his lifelong dream of working on boats. Phil attended school in Florida, and upon completion of his studies, he began his second career at North Texas Marine in Gainesville, Texas, where he was employed for 30 years and where he remained until the time of his death. Phil loved his job and he loved his work family, because to him, they too were his family. Phil was known as the “Dr. Phil” of outboard motors. His knowledge was something everyone in the boat industry wished they had.
His love for fishing was above all else, and his favorite place to be was at Lake Fork with Tina. This was one of the happiest places they would always spend time together at. Phil was the favorite uncle to all his nieces and nephews. Phil had an infectious laugh like no other, and he loved making those around him laugh. He had a nickname for everyone and loved spending time with his friends and family. Phil and Tina loved spending time with lifelong friends, Wayne and Carol, whether it was them coming to Texas, or Phil and Tina going out to New Mexico to visit them. His moments with Pat Lusty were times he cherished at Lake Fork where they would always cut up and talk about who caught the biggest fish. He loved the days he spent fishing at Lake Texoma with all his fishing buddies. Phil had so many “fishing buddies” which included Jeff Keller, a man he was proud to call his nephew.
Phil’s proudest moment in life was that of his relationship with Brian Wallace. Brian came into Phil’s life at the age of 7, and he enjoyed every moment he and Brian spent together and he loved that he was able to help raise Brian up in the “boat world” and looked at Brian more as a son, than an employer. Phil was always proud of the accomplishments that Brian achieved throughout his life and was one of his biggest supporters.
On October 18, 2021, Phil’s great-nephew, Dexter was born and his sister Connie, Facetimed Phil so that he could see the newest addition to the family and it was then that his nephew Jared would tell him that Dexter was named after him. His name was Dexter Philip-Edward Davis. This was an emotional moment for Phil, as he was so proud that his name would be carried on through this precious baby.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenneth.
Phil is survived by his girlfriend, Tina of the home; two sisters: Connie and husband Richard Davis of Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Vicki and husband Steve Morgan of Friendswood, Texas; sister-in-law Bealinda Krum of Dangerfield, Texas; three nieces: Amanda and husband Brent Burney of Longview, Texas, Dawn and husband Jeff Keller of Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Ashley and husband Freddie Ramos of League City, Texas; three nephews: Jesse Krum of Dangerfield, Texas, Jeremy and wife Joanna Morgan of Friendswood, Texas, and Jared and wife Shelley Davis of Chapmansboro, Tennessee. Phil is also survived by 17 great-nieces and nephews, many cousins and numerous friends. Phil is also survived by Tina’s children: Tabitha Tobias, Dominic “DJ” Tobias, Eric Keith, and Tiffany Keith. They all loved him like a dad.
