Phyllis Fairbanks DuBois, affectionately known as “Nanu”, age 89, of Gainesville, TX, passed away January 10, 2024 in Gainesville.
Phyllis was born September 17, 1934 in Jamaica Queens, NY and graduated high school in Readington, NJ. She married John A. DuBois and the family moved to Gainesville in 1974. Mrs. DuBois, the consummate caregiver, operated a licensed daycare in Gainesville for over 35 years, retiring at the age of 82. She was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was a skilled artist and avid painter.
Predeceased by: parents Samuel and May Belle (Bagley) Fairbanks; husband John A. DuBois; sister Mary; and brothers Sam, Jesse, and Dave.
Survived by: son John S. DuBois of Gainesville; son Marc A. DuBois of Flower Mound, TX; daughter Laurie Worley and husband Eric of Era, TX; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services are pending at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter, Gainesville, TX.
