Ramona Orsburn, 81, a longtime resident of Gainesville, Texas, went peacefully to her heavenly home on August 20, 2018.

She was born to Ney and Ethel Steen on November 16, 1936 in Collinsville, Texas.  She was married on June 17, 1955 to Wade Orsburn.  She is survived by her son Keith Orsburn and wife Jamie of Lake Kiowa; grandson Kade Orsburn of Waco; and granddaughters Rachel Cannon of Denton, Maegan Anderson of Plano, and Carlyn Mitchell and her husband Jacob Mitchell of Hattiesburg, MS.  She also is survived by her great-granddaughter Maelyn Cannon and great-grandson Blake Mitchell.

Ramona was an only child and was raised in Collinsville, TX, where she graduated high school with top honors.  She met the love of her life, Wade, when he refereed high school girls’ basketball games.  After their marriage, they moved to Gainesville, TX and built their lives together in this community.  Ramona served as the pianist for First Baptist Church of Gainesville for over 50 years.  Additionally, she inspired many people through her music and taught piano lessons to hundreds of children in Cooke and Grayson County.  Her love for music, her quick wit, and her sweet smile will be greatly missed by many.

She is preceded in death by her father, mother, husband and one child, Dwight David Orsburn.  She was a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, TX.

A celebration of her life will be Saturday, August 25 th at 10 am at the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, TX, to be conducted by Dr. Jeff Langley. The family visitation will occur at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home on Friday, August 24 th from 5pm – 8pm.

Interment will take place at the Collinsville Cemetery following the celebration.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Baugh, Garry Felderhoff, Sparky Flint, Elijah Lewis, William Lewis, Randy Orsburn, Jake Rhodes and Larry Smith.

Donations, if desired, can be made to the First Baptist Church Music Department or to the American Alzheimer’s Association.  The family wishes to thank the nursing staff, employees and residents of the Renaissance Care Center for their loving and tender care of Ramona during her last days.
