Raymond John Haverkamp was born on June 8, 1934, and passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024.  Ray was the second oldest of six children born to Frank and Catherine Haverkamp, Sr.  He was born on the family farm where he spent his childhood and attended school in Lindsay until his graduation in 1952.  After graduation, Ray joined the Army in 1953 where he was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.  Upon his return, Ray married Louise Fuhrmann in April of 1957.  Ray went to work for National Supply for the next 50 years where he met many lifelong friends.

Ray’s true passion was farming and ranching, where his hard work and dedication was instilled in his children and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed annual deer hunting trips with his many friends and family.

Ray was a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.  He was active in the community, where he served on the Lindsay School board, the Nascoga federal credit union board, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Aside from his faith, Ray’s greatest love was his wife of 67 years, Louise, and his 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

Ray and his family loved to travel, taking 24 cruises where he visited 35 countries.  He and Louise visited all 50 states over the course of their marriage.

Ray lived a life of faith, goodness, and love and will be deeply missed by those close to him.

Ray is survived by his wife Louise Haverkamp, his children:  Steve and Vickie Haverkamp, Carla and Bob Smith, Sandra and Robert Ogden, Sheila and Kim Baekgaard, Brenda Anderle and Matthew O’Hearn; his 9 grandchildren:  Garrett and Lindsey Jones, Josh and Gina Jones, Neil and Jackie Jones, Victoria and Ishan Dua, Ellen and Jake Wilson, Jess Ogden, Abby and Matt Dieter, Caleb and Hannah Anderle, and Evan Anderle.  He is also survived by his great-grandchildren:  Nolan and Pierce Jones, Juliet and Luke Jones, Sutton and Arlie Dieter, and Jonah Wilson.

Survivors also include his brother Richard and sister-in-law Barbara Haverkamp, sister Alma and brother-in-law Bob Bierschenk, sister Betty Blessing and many cherished nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Catherine Haverkamp, Sr., brother Frank, Jr., sister Clara Mae Taylor, granddaughter Katie Ogden, son-in-law, Doug Anderle, brothers-in-law Bob Blessing and Mike Neu, and nephew Jeff Neu.

Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. John Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.  A rosary will be held on Tuesday at 6:00 PM with a visitation to follow at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
