Richard Allen Bentley

November 11, 1941 — February 4, 2019

Richard Allen Bentley passed away February 4, 2019 in Gainesville, Texas.  Richard was born one of four boys to JR Bentley and Alma (Pierce) Bentley in Sherman, TX on November 11, 1941.
Richard was in the grocery business for 30+ years.  He took great pride in his work and received great joy working with all the customers and co-workers he had the pleasure to meed and visit with over the years.  He loved spending time with his boys and family barbecuing, singing and just sitting and visiting.  When he retired he enjoyed working in his yard, woodwork and ink art on glass.  One of his biggest joys later in life was walking and playing with his Yorkshire Terrier, Jack.
Richard was preceded in death by his father JR Bentley of Sherman, TX and his brother Jerry Bentley of Sherman, TX.
He is survived by his mother Alma Mae Bentley of Sherman, TX; his brother Mike Bentley and his wife Sue of Whitesboro, TX; brother Billy Bentley and his wife Star of McKinney, TX; sister-in-law Carol Bentley (Jerry's wife) of Sherman, TX.  He is also survived by his three sons Gary Bentley and his wife Tana of Gainesville, TX, Jim Bentley and his wife June of Decatur, TX and Scott Bentley and his wife Donna of Leander, TX; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
There will be a gathering of friends and family to celebrate his life on February 8, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Church of Christ, 209 N. Union St. Whitesboro, TX if you would like, please come join us.
