Richard Homer Morgan

March 3, 1936 — April 25, 2023

Richard Homer Morgan of Lake Kiowa, was welcomed into God’s Kingdom, passing on April 25, 2023 in Gainesville. He was born on March 3, 1936 in Bartlesville, OK to Edna Dean (Smith) Morgan and Thomas Homer Morgan. He attended College High School and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in January of 1959. He and the love of his life, Patricia Ann McAnelly, were married on June 20, 1959 and moved to Richardson, TX. They remained in Richardson until they retired in 1994 and moved to Lake Kiowa, spending many wonderful years traveling at home and abroad. He enjoyed fishing, singing, playing the piano, and bridge.

Mr. Morgan had spent time working at Collins Radio, LTV, University of Texas Dallas, and Optek. He could be described as a gentleman and a gentle man. He was a Christian and a faithful member of Richardson Heights Baptist Church for over 35 years and a member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville for over 25 years, serving as deacon most of that time. He was a longtime member of Lake Kiowa Chapel Choir and First Baptist Sanctuary Choir.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law Louella and George McAnelly; brother-in-law Dr. George McAnelly III.

Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife Patricia; son and daughter-in-law David Wayne and Lisa (Kokel) Morgan; son and daughter-in-law Steven Douglas and Lidia (Callas) Morgan; 3 grandchildren: Kayla Leach, Tavis Morgan, Amy Nicole Morgan; 1 great-grandchild Koby Lyn Morgan.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the First Baptist Church at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 20, 2023 with Dr. Jeff Langley officiating.
