Richard Rowell

John Richard Rowell, Jr., 69, of Valley View, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Richard was born August 17, 1952 in Oklahoma City, OK to the late Joh Richard Rowell, Sr. and his wife, Zora Mae Godwin.  A graduate of H. Grady Spruce in Dallas, he joined the Southern Pacific Railroad until his early retirement in 1989.  He joined Coca-Cola USA in 1991 and retired in 2018.

Richard and his loving wife, Sabine made their home in Valley View, TX in 1993.  He enjoyed the life of a gentleman farmer, and along with his wife, bred and raced thoroughbred horses throughout the tri-state area.

Most importantly, he was an amazing father to his daughters, Jennifer Rowell and Jamie Rowell Pallett.  His absolute joy in later years was his grandchildren Jordan Davis, Justin Davis, and Riley and Skiler Pallett.  He was an avid supporter and helped coach his grandsons in football, baseball and soccer, never missing a game.

Richard’s memory will live on through his large extended family and friends.  He never met a stranger.  He is survived by his brother Billy Rowell and his wife Murial, and sister Diane Zimmerman and husband Kenny, all of Seagoville, TX.

Richard’s celebration of life will be held at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, 602 S. Lindsay St., Gainesville, TX 76240, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022.  A reception will follow at Oak Meadow Ranch, 440 Rep Top Rd., Valley View, TX 76272.
