Rito Nino Ortega, affectionately known as “PomPom”, age 59, of Sanger, passed away November 8, 2021 in Denton.

Rito was born May 22, 1962 in San Pedro, Coahuila, Mexico.  He married Marion Frates on March 4, 1987 in Gainesville.  Mr. Ortega was a teacher in Mexico and worked at IFS Coatings in Gainesville for over 20 years.  Although he enjoyed playing soccer and golf, his greatest love was his family, particularly his grandchildren.

Survivors include: wife, Mary Ortega of Sanger; son, Victor Ortega and wife, Janeth of Gainesville; son, Eric Ortega and wife, Sarah of Hickory Creek; daughter, Amber Cervantez of Sanger; grandchildren: Hugo, Nayeli, Shanik, Ayden, Bryson, Addy, Boston, Xavier, Ray Jr., Damion, Davin, Raelynn, Izaiah, and Imberlynn; mother, Maria Concepcion (Nino Carillo) “Concha” Ortega of Mexico; sister, Rosa Ortega and husband, Enrique of Mexico; sister, Gabby Ortega and husband, Carlos of Mexico; sister, Angeles Ortega of Mexico; sister, Vicki Ortega and husband, Ricardo of Mexico; brother, Pablo Ortega and wife, Guera of Mexico; brother, Paco Ortega of Mexico; mother-in-law, Darlene Dugan of Mill Creek, OK; brother-in-law, Danny Frates of Ardmore, OK; brother-in-law, Jeremy Dugan of Mill Creek, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Ortega was preceded in death by: father, Francisco “Tequila” Ortega; and father-in-law, David Frates.

A Rosary service, followed by visitation, will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 17 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. John Pacheco officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
