A Celebration of life was held for Robert Marvin Baker son of Robert Eargle and Ruth Baker at the residence of his only son on June 16, 2018.
At the age of 90 dad passed away peacefully at North Texas Medical center after living in the Gainesville Convalescent center where the staff loved and cared for him.
Marvin served in the US Navy as a water tender 1st class in the Korean conflict and then ran the gas station on the T-head pier in Corpus Christi until hurricane Carla destroyed. Then he drove a taxi and a dynamite truck and was even offered a partnership in the first Whataburger but didn't think it would go over. He married Eunice Wynell Craven and later fathered their only child Robert Marnell Baker (Bob) in 1966.
They moved to Newark, Texas where he bought a half acre lot and lived there till 2010.
He worked as a marine mechanic for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife Eunice and son and daughter-in-law Bob and Pamela Baker with 4 granddaughters and 27 great-grandchildren.
