ROBERT "BOB" EUGENE CARR
Robert “Bob” Eugene Carr, age 75, of Valley View, went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2020. He was surrounded by his family as he passed.
Bob was born on September 5, 1945 to Dorothy Ellen (Warren) Carr and Ferrel Robert Carr in Ames, Iowa.
After graduation from Ames High School (Ames, Iowa) in 1963, he enlisted into the US Army. He was a paratrooper with the 101 st Airborne “Screaming Eagles”. He served in Vietnam where he was assigned to the 1 st Air Cavalry Division. After his return from Vietnam, he got his AA from Boone Junior College, then a BA from Iowa State University. At the age of 50, he decided to further his education obtaining a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Bob married his wife of 52 years, Susan “Sue” Fisher in Des Moines, Iowa on September 15, 1968.
Bob started his life long career with the Maytag Company in 1972. He rose through the Marketing and Sales Division into Sales Management early in his career. He held various sales management positions throughout the years. Maytag moved him from Iowa to Idaho Falls, Idaho; Salt Lake City, Utah; Anaheim, California; Raleigh, North Carolina; Houston, Texas; and lastly to the Dallas Metro Area where he settled in Valley View in 1999. He retired from Maytag in 2003.
Bob started his second career on his farm – he learned how to drive a tractor, bale hay, and raise Registered Angus cattle. He loved his farm and his animals – there was always work that needed to be done which he embraced wholeheartedly.
Bob’s pride and joy was always his children and his grandchildren. He loved time with his family, sharing stories and always lots of laughter. All the kids loved hanging out with Papa Bob.
Bob never met a stranger. He was the kindest, most gentle and helpful friend to everyone he met. He was always volunteering to help a friend, neighbor or family member. His mentoring with advice and counsel was often sought after by family and friends. He will be missed dearly by many.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sue of Valley View and children: son Justin Carr and wife Allison, daughter Kristin Stockton and husband Linc; six granddaughters: Kaitlyn, Cadence, Taylor, Allie, Kari and Kelsey; three step-grandchildren: Bailey, Garrett and Lilly; brothers: Gary (Karen) of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Larry (Janet) of Ellsworth, Wisconsin; sister: Patsy (Jon) Tedford of Portland, Oregon; eleven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step father George Overgaard, his sister Nancy Lawrence and his nephew Jeff Heady.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all of the wonderful staff in the 3 rd & 4 th floor ICU at Medical City-Denton. They went above and beyond in their care and compassion for both Bob and for the family.
