Robert Simon Johnson III, 72, passed on May 30, 2022 in Gainesville, TX.

Robert Simon Johnson III was born October 20, 1949 in Dallas, TX to the late Robert Simon Johnson Jr and Hassie Virginia Sanders.  Later he relocated to Lewisville, TX where he met and married his beautiful wife, Esther Mae Ward on July 3, 1972.  They had two wonderful sons, Rodney Wayne Johnson and Robert Simon Johnson IV.  Mr. Robert Johnson was endearingly known as "Butch".  He then moved to Gainesville, TX where his career began in manufacturing with companies like Industries Models in Gainesville from where he retired.  In his retirement, "Butch" often enjoyed spending time with his sweetheart and grandchildren and playing video games.  He also enjoyed watching football; he was an avid Washington Redskins fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters.  He leaves to mourn his wife of nearly 50 years, Esther Mae Johnson; son, Rodney Johnson and wife, Carmen Johnson of Irving, TX; son, Robert S. Johnson IV and wife, Lynell Jones Johnson of McKinney, TX; one grandson, Kevin Johnson and one granddaughter, Madelyn Simone Johnson.  Also mourning his loss are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will also miss his friendly personality.

After a same-day viewing from noon to service time, A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville, TX.  Following the service, Mr. Johnson will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, TX.
