Robert Joseph La Salle

October 27, 1938 — October 14, 2020

Robert Joseph LaSalle, 82, passed away peacefully in his home on October 14, 2020 after a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure. Bob was born October 27, 1938 in New York City, NY. He served his country in the US Army then married Marilyn (Wordsman) LaSalle in Glen Cove, NY where they raised their sons, Robert E. LaSalle, Timothy LaSalle, Bradley LaSalle and Steven LaSalle until 1977 when Bob packed up the boys and the family cat and moved to Texas. As a transplanted Texan, Bob and the boys lived in Richardson until he moved them to the wide open spaces of Nocona, Tx, then Lindsay, Tx, eventually settling in Gainesville, Tx where he lived out the rest of his life.

Bob was a hard working, frugal man who gave generously to his family. After he retired from Xerox he worked for FEMA to “stay busy”. Bob gave the best advice and told the best stories about his adventures in New York. He worked hard all his life because there was nothing more important to him than his family.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham & Margaret Lang, his wife Marilyn, his son Robert E. LaSalle, and several siblings. He is survived by his sons Timothy, Steven, Bradley, daughter in law Becky LaSalle (Robert), and grandchildren Melissa LaSalle, Robert (Bobby) Miller-LaSalle and wife Jessica, Emily LaSalle, Steven John LaSalle and wife Courtney, Shawn LaSalle and wife Ali, Carlene LaSalle, Michelle LaSalle, Sabrina Villalva, Bradly LaSalle II, Nathan LaSalle, Bryan LaSalle, and JoAnna LaSalle. He is also survived by17 great grandchildren.  He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and great grandchildren as Papa Bob. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him endless joy in life. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 17 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. At a later time, private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery where he will rest for eternity next to Marilyn.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you make a memorial donation to Home Hospice of Cooke County in Bob's name.
