Robert Frank Mcnew

Funeral services for Bob McNew, 80, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Ben Willingham officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 12 at the funeral home.

Mr. McNew passed away May 10, 2020 in Gainesville.

Robert Frank McNew was born on June 26th, 1939 in Nocona, Texas to Bryant and Ura Beck McNew.  He was a graduate of Nocona High School in 1957.  He married Norma Cassie Kammerdiener on March 20, 1958 and remained married until the time of his death, recently celebrating 62 years of marriage.  He was an active member of the Callisburg Church of Christ and he provided a remarkable example of a husband and father.

Bobby was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with his family at the lake or the river and he took pleasure teaching his children and grandkids to fish.  He spent most of his career as a machinist and tool and die maker and he enjoyed woodworking and furniture building at home.  Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Survivors include: wife Norma McNew of Gainesville; son Joe McNew and wife Heather of Allen; son James McNew and wife Betsy of Houston; daughter Kim Bossert and husband Bill of Bostic, NC; grandchildren: Brandi, Morgan, Zoe, Nick, Adam, Brittany, and Jared; five great-grandchildren; and brother Dwight McNew and wife Karen.

Mr. McNew was preceded in death by: parents Bryant and Ura (Beck) McNew; son Robert McNew Jr.; and brother Leon Breeze.

Serving as pallbearers are: Bryan Kammerdiener, Marcus Austin, Fil Anglin, Nick McNew, Jared Gullion, and Hayden Nelson.
