Robert Alexander Montgomery

Robert Alexander Montgomery was born in 1924 to R.A. and Birdie Montgomery. He was the youngest of three brothers and one sister and grew up in Denison, Texas and was a Navy Veteran of World War Two. Robert attended one year in Austin College and three years at S.M.U. and graduated with a degree in Industrial Production Management in 1950. He married Avis Ann Powledge in 1949. He and Ann celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in November 2018. A fifty plus member of Lover Lane United Methodist Church, and active in the Redus Bible Class, served as Scout Master of Troop 72, he was a member of Swingin' Saints Square Dance Club, and a avid golfer. He died May 27, 2024. Robert is preceded in death by his wife Ann Montgomery and parents Raymond and Birdie (Dobbs) Montgomery. He is survived by his son Mark Montgomery (wife Linda) and two Grandsons Patrick and George Montgomery (wife Emily) and great granddaughter Natalie Jane of Orlando, Florida and several nephews and nieces. Memorial Services to be held at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church on June 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas.
