Rodney Balthrop

Funeral services for Rodney Lynn Balthrop, 74, of Rosston, are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Kremling officiating.  Interment will follow at Rosston Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Balthrop passed away October 12, 2020 in Lewisville.

Rodney was born February 12, 1946 in Muenster to Welton and Gladys (Durham) Balthrop.  He was raised in Rosston and had a long career with AMPI in Muenster, working in manufacturing and maintenance.  A skilled mechanic, Mr. Balthrop was always tinkering on a car, truck, or piece of small-engine equipment.  He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, gardening, or running his smoker.

Survivors include: daughter Karen Dennis and husband Brady of Valley View; grandson Rodney Dennis and wife Mia of Gainesville; great-grandchildren: Ripleigh and Rockale; brother James Balthrop and wife Billie of Myra; sister Sybil Upchurch and husband Bud of Mesa, AZ; sister Sandra Lehman of Iowa Park; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Balthrop was preceded in death by: wife Carolyn Mae Balthrop; both parents; brothers: Jerry, Dwayne, and Kenneth; and sister Anna Kirk.
