A memorial service for Rodney Lee Walker, 55, of Valley View, is set for 10:00am Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville, Texas. A visitation will follow the service.
Rodney was born February 3, 1963 in Grand Prairie, Texas to Walter William (Bill) Walker and Gayle Frances Fortune. He passed away August 1, 2018 in his home.
Rodney is survived by his parents Bill and Gayle Walker of Valley View, his sister Sandee Walker Feyereisen and brother in law Bob Feyereisen of Denton; his brother Randy Walker and sister in law Kelli Walker of Valley View; his brother Ron Walker and sister in law Brenda Walker of Denton; his three children Natalie Walker of Addison, Brandon Walker of Denton, Ashley Walker of Denton; his nephews Gregory Collis of Valley View, Steven Collis of Portland, Michelle Walker Fletcher and Ben, Jace, Jill and Jack Walker of Valley View, Christopher Walker of Denton, Andrew Walker of Denton; 2 great nephews and 3 great nieces.
Rodney was raised in Shady Shores in Denton County, Texas and was a 1981 Graduate of Denton High School interested in music and sports. He played football and was a member of the Bronco Band at Denton High School and other musical groups. He played trumpet and guitar. He was a wonderful father, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Rod was an employee of Weber Aircraft Inc., A Zodiac Company in Gainesville and he apprenticed in machine design and manufacturing with his father in their family business in Valley View.
He held an associate’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from Kilgore College and was a charter member of Lake Shore Baptist Church in Lake Dallas, Texas. Rodney was a prolife Christian and volunteered to do building and maintenance projects for ABBA Women’s Center (All Babies Born Alive) where his sister serves as executive director for two locations in Gainesville and Lewisville. ABBA helps save the unborn and ministers to the needs of young pregnant women and their families in the North Texas and Southern Oklahoma area.
