Russell Lynn Schmid

A funeral service for Russell Lynn Schmid, 60, of Gainesville, is set for 2:00 PM Friday, December, 17, 2021 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Chet Burgess and Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating.  A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Mr. Schmid passed away December 13, 2021 in Gainesville.  He was born April 9, 1961 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Russell was employed by Safran as an engineer and was very active with the Butterfield Stage Players, acting in several productions over the years.  He married Brenda Louise Childress on March 12, 2011 in Gainesville.

Mr. Schmid is survived by his wife Brenda Childress Schmid of Gainesville; mother Linda Rakestraw of Gainesville; daughter Courtney Ing of Gainesville; daughter Brianna Ing of Gainesville; grandchildren McKenna Mitchuson, Wyatt Foster, Mykael Burgess; mother-in-law Sarah Poteet of Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law Lisa and Fred Bowles of Valley View; brother and sister-in-law Devin and Nancy Rakestraw of Lewisville; brother and sister-in-law Jay and April Bowen of Dallas; sister-in-law Stacy Childress; sister-in-law Elizabeth Phillips; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Alvin and Stacy Vannoy Childress; sister-in-law Emma Childress; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Brian and Tammy Childress; brother Dan Winters; brother Daniel Davis; brother Terry Jordan and fiancé Jennifer; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sherry and Willie Payne; numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.

Russell was preceded in death by his father Don Rakestraw, nephew Zach Rakestraw, grandparents, and brother-in-law Bennie Childress.
