Ruth Elaine Horner Lewis

Ruth passed peacefully and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on April 5, 2025.

Ruth was born in Washington, Iowa to Ernest Allen and Frances Mildred (Fritz) Horner, on June 29, 1934. She truly loved her family. She was blessed to have such loving parents along with her 2 sisters and a brother. They cared for each other deeply.

Ruth attended the University of Iowa and was a stewardess for American Airlines out of New York City where she earned a fondness for the Big Apple. She married Archie Deen Lewis, Jr. on March 3, 1962 in Iowa. They then moved to Dallas, Texas, and later Lake Kiowa, Texas, where they raised their family.

Ruth taught Sunday School at First Presbyterian Church for 30 years, teaching the Word of God to several generations of children. She was a member of the Lake Kiowa Fire Auxiliary, member of the original Bible Study Group of Lake Kiowa, devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville, and a substitute teacher for Callisburg ISD. She was a dedicated volunteer for Cooke County Hospice, the North Texas Medical Center Auxiliary as a Pink Lady, and the Frank Buck Zoo. She was faithful in serving the Lord through volunteering and giving to charities that were important to her.

Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Christy and Jeff Horn; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Dawn Lewis; grandchildren Jace Horn, Jordan Elaine Berndsen and husband Phillip, Bailey Horn and wife Mallory, Allison Beasley and husband Jackson, and Brett Lewis and wife Kendall. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Crue, Blakely Ruth, Brooks, Bowie Berndsen, and Briggs Horn, who adored her, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 46 beautiful years; her sister and brother-in-law Millie and Duane Nollsch; sister and brother-in-law Miriam and Mick Meade; brother and sister-in-law Harold and Nancy Horner.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39
