Sandra Joe Floerke, 82, of Gainesville, TX, passed away on October 11, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 14th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was laid to rest on October 12th at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Woodbine, TX. Arrangements are under the care of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Sandra Floerke was born on May 31, 1941, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her parents were Edith Pauline (Ivy) Fulmer and John Edward Fulmer. Much of her early life was spent in Kansas City, Missouri where she graduated from Southeast High School in 1959. She married Kent Lee Floerke in 1958, and they raised seven children together. They were married for almost 62 years at the time of his passing in May of 2022. She had a deep and abiding love for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her heart was filled with kindness and graciousness, and her home was always a welcome place for others.
She had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and loved to share her testimony with those around her. She became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1967 and served diligently in many capacities. She served in numerous teaching and leadership callings in both the Primary and Relief Society organizations. She loved doing family history work and spent decades doing research.
She enjoyed reading, cooking, keeping recipes, writing poetry, and doing scherenschnitte. She worked at various jobs at different times in her life including, telephone operator, substitute teacher, babysitter, and church custodian. However, her most important vocation was being a wonderful wife and mother. She overcame many hardships and challenges in her life, and there will always be gratitude for her love, steadfastness, and example.
Survivors
Survivors include: daughter, Kendra Neeve Manon of Gainesville; daughter, Dana Marie Phillips and husband Raymond of Lawton, OK; son, Michael Albert Floerke and wife Carla of Greenbrier, Arkansas; daughter Kristine Noel Clinton and husband, Gary Jr. of Gainesville; daughter Karen Call and former husband Tracey of Gainesville; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cynda Kennion of Gainesville; and sister-in-law Shiela Cox of Kansas City, KS.
Mrs. Floerke was preceded in death by: husband, Kent Lee Floerke; parents, Edith Pauline (Ivy) Fulmer and John Edward Fulmer; father, Otis Oliver McArty; son, Mark Clive Floerke; son, Matthew Oliver Floerke; sister, Donna Jean Gonzalez; brother, Charles Edward Fulmer; brother, Travis Leigh Fulmer; and sister, Cathy Sue Fulmer.
