Sandra Nichols

June 5, 1943 — February 21, 2021

Funeral services for Sandra “Sandy” Kay Nichols, 77, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church of Gainesville with Rev. Adam Spore officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 26 in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Nichols was called home by her Lord on February 21, 2021, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, surrounded by many loved ones.  Her husband, Robert, preceded her in death in February 2018.

Sandra was born June 5, 1943, in Gainesville, Texas, to Mayo and Katherine Peterson.  She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1961.  She married her high school sweetheart Robert Nichols Jr. on August 18, 1961, at First United Methodist in Gainesville.  Sandra received her cosmetology license in 1975 and owned her own beauty shop for many years. She closed her shop in March 2020 due to COVID and returned to work in May at The Cottage, where she worked until January 2021.

She and Robert had three children and spent their time being dedicated, loving parents.  She and her family spent many summers at the lake camping and fishing.  Robert and Sandra also spent much of their early married lives square dancing with their friends as members of the 49’ers square dance club.

Sandra was known as “Nana” to her many grandkids and great-grandkids and her home was the gathering place for all holidays and special occasions.  Her love language was food and cooking.  She loved her family dearly and nothing made her happier than spending time with them. She rarely missed any of their activities and was their biggest fan.  She could be seen and heard at any given time cheering and yelling “Go Red”.   Her Yorkie Pepper was always by her side and could be seen traveling around town with her in his car seat.  Her granddogs Turbo and Ace loved to go to Nana’s house where they were showered with love and treats. She never met a stranger and loved to visit with people everywhere she went.  She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
