Born, April 4th, 1945 in Progresso, Mexico, Santiago was born with love for the outdoors. As a child, he enjoyed a farm full of animals where his love for farming and ranching began. In 1967 he met his wife of 52 years, Bertha Acosta Duran. With his first child born in 1969, he dreamed of a better life for his family. He began working in the United States to provide for his family and moved them there in 1978. He started his journey in New Mexico where he worked for a few months and then moved to Texas where he eventually landed in a small town called Era, Texas. There he made a living as a farmer and rancher for 35 years. He resided in Gainesville, TX for the last 4 years of his life. Santiago passed away on March 15, 2021 in Gainesville.
Santiago is preceded in death by his father Santiago Rodriguez, mother Paula Fierro, brothers Mario, Manuel, and Heriberto, sisters Hortencia, y Domitila. He is survived by his wife Bertha, brothers Enrique, Efrain, and Osvaldo, sister Bertha, sons James, Carlos, Jorge, Javier, daughters Aide and Nancy, grandchildren Kevin, Abigail, Tatiana, Alexa, Zean, Zeta, RaHeim, DevYon, NeHemiah, Kaylee, and Kayden, great grandchildren Khloe and Karter.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Gainesville. A visitation will be held at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM
