Sharon Barnes

Sharon (Wood) Barnes of Gainesville, TX, born August 17, 1938, to Cleva and Orville Wood, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2020, at her home on the Dolly B Ranch surrounded by her family.

Sharon will be remembered as the best mom, wife, sister, and grandma that we could ask for.  Her cooking brought us together, and her love was the pillar of our family.  She was a fierce card player who loved teaching anyone who didn't mind losing to her.  Her quick and witty humor would always bring a laugh, just ask the people in the picture frames.  She enjoyed reading, garage-sailing, gardening, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Carol Marler and son-in-law Everett Marler.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jerry Barnes; children Lynn Haverkamp, husband Charlie; Jana Fisher, husband Dan; Kris Brown, husband Nick; and Paul Barnes, wife Niki; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

We want to thank all of the nurses, doctors, and caregivers who helped our mother over the last few years.  Your care gave us extra time with her that we will forever cherish.

A rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM Friday, August 7, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a 10:30 AM Memorial Mass to follow.
