Sharon Lillian Mccormack

January 21, 1942 — June 20, 2022

Sharon Lillian McCormack, 80, of Prosper, Texas passed away June 20, 2022.   Born in Santa Monica, California on January 21, 1942, while she was still a baby her parents moved to Vernon Center, Minnesota.  She grew up on a farm, and was taught a strong work ethic by her parents and grandparents.  She graduated from Mankato State University with a home-economics degree.  She met Clark McCormack in high school, and they married on September 27, 1963 – shortly after he completed his military service in the Marines.  She taught school in Madelia, Minnesota until they moved to Michigan.  From there they moved to Illinois, Ohio and then settled in Texas to raise their family.

Anyone who knew Sharon understood she loved her family and always put them first.  She was fiercely loyal and loving to her family, raising three children – Mitchell, Jill and Kevin.  When grandchildren arrived, Sharon was always ready to lend a helping hand like only a devoted grandmother could.  Her grandchildren:  Mitch, Dylan, Bailey and Nico will never forget the impact she made in their lives.

Sharon never met someone who didn’t share her political views without trying to persuade them they were mistaken.  She did it with style, grace and respect that is a rare find in today’s world.  She proudly served in Republican Woman holding various positions within the organization, including Election Judge and Precinct chair.   She worked on the local, state and national level for the Republican Party and had the honor of attending two Presidential Inaugurations.  She was passionate about being involved in grass roots efforts that could make a difference!

Sharon was raised in the Methodist Church and faithfully supported First United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Texas.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 58 years, Clark McCormack; three children – Mitchell, Jill and Kevin; her grandchildren – Mitch, Dylan, Bailey and Nico; and a brother, Larry Bennett.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Lillian Bennett.

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on July 2nd at 2pm at First United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Texas.  Reception immediately following in the church’s fellowship hall.  Contributions in Sharon’s honor can be made to CC Young Hospice Care, Dallas, Texas, in lieu of flowers.  You may sign the online register at www.geojcarroll.com.
