Sharon Thomas Richey was born on December 20, 1939 in Gainesville, Texas to Dave M. Thomas and Maudie Smith Thomas. She passed away peacefully at home in Gainesville on February 14, 2025.

Sharon graduated from Gainesville High School in 1957. She attended Texas Tech University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority and Gamma Phi Mu, honorary business fraternity. Sharon completed her paralegal studies at TWU.

While still in high school, she met Hubert Wayne Richey. They married October 3, 1959, in Muleshoe, Texas, and spent 48 years together until his death in 2008.

For many years, Mrs. Richey worked as a legal secretary and paralegal. She was first employed in Dallas and then spent the majority of her working years in Gainesville.

Sharon was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church of Gainesville and volunteered weekly at Second Time Around.

Mrs. Richey was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert, her parents, and her brother Dave M. Thomas Jr.

Sharon is survived by her children Lance Thomas Richey & wife; Linda, of Matthews, NC; Shauna Lane Clark & husband, Daryl, of Gainesville; Wayna Lee Rosson & husband, Travis, of Gainesville; and Shandee Lynne Richey Davis of Gainesville, Tx. She had 9 grandchildren: Michael Richey and wife Katie; Gioia Richey; Madison Clark, Cassidy Clark Hundt and husband Tyler; Jenna Rosson Burk and husband Chris; Quinton Rosson and wife Brittany; Jessee Rosson Beauten, and husband Jonathon; Slade Davis, and Dax Davis. Mrs. Richey is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville.  A graveside service will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Fairview Cemetery pavilion, Gainesville.
