Stella Ruth Harrell

Stella Ruth of Gainesville went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on November 5th, 2019.  She was 95 years old.

Funeral Services will be held on November 9th at 2:00 PM at Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating.  Visitation will be from 1 PM-2 PM at the church and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville.

She was born on September 9, 1924 in Roberta Oklahoma to Willie Jo and Mattie Harriette Robinson Wright, but spent her life in the Gainesville and Lake Kiowa area.

She graduated from Newsome Dougherty Memorial High School on May 31, 1941 and the next day married the love of her life Hugh Ben Harrell Jr.  They were married 45 years before the Lord took him home in January 1987.  They had 2 children; Ronald Ben and Deborah Ruth.

She was a bookkeeper for many businesses in Gainesville and served as Office Manager for Lake Kiowa Property Owners Association from 1971-1986.

She was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 72 years.  She held numerous other positions in the church and the Cooke County Baptist Association because she loved serving the Lord.

As an outreach of that love she volunteered for Home Hospice and then at ABBA Women’s Center in Gainesville from 1996-2004 with “her girls” and many others whom she loved dearly.

She leaves behind her daughter Deborah Young and husband Ronny, Daughter-in-Law Glenda Harrell, Grandson Chris Young, Granddaughters Jackie Shortnacy and husband Bart, Valerie Harrell, and Tori Garcia and husband Eli; Great Grandchildren Lindsey Richardson and husband Aaron, Lauren Shortnacy, Alexandria Young, Justin and Dane Eberhart, Tripp and Charlotte Garcia; and Great - Great Granddaughters Addyson and Landry Richardson.

She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved her and will miss her greatly.

Pallbearers will be her Grandsons.

Honorary Pallbearers are the Deacons of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death are husband H.B. Harrell, Jr., her parents, son Ronald B. Harrell, Granddaughter-in-law Nicki Young and 4 siblings Annie Mae Atnip, Ethel Britton, Cheatie McEuin and Willie Lincoln Wright.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Tabernacle Baptist Church, Heart to Heart Hospice in Sherman or ABBA Women’s Center in Gainesville.
