Steven Michael Salaz

Steven Michael Salaz, 75, of Callisburg, passed away November 23, 2024 in Gainesville.

Steven was born January 5, 1949 in Torrington, WY and graduated high school in Cheyenne, WY.  Mr. Salaz served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  Mr. Salaz enjoyed competing in chili cook-offs, loved fishing, and could often be found riding his zero-turn mower.  He was a sports fan and avidly supported the Denver Broncos, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers.

Survivors include: wife Letha Salaz of Callisburg; son Michael Salaz of Houston; son Richard Salaz (wife Stacy) of The Colony; stepson Larry Westbrook of Gainesville; stepson Les Westbrook (wife Lauri) of Sherman; grandchildren: Michael Adrian Salaz, Kali Salaz, Gianna Salaz, Diamond Torres, Colin Westbrook, Katie Westbrook, Logan Westbrook, and Channing Westbrook; sister Liz Adair (husband Richard) of Douglas, WY; sister-in-law Patty Salaz of Tucson, AZ; sister-in-law Joyce Salaz of Princeton, MN; brother-in-law Melvin Ware of Woodbine; sister-in-law Lynette Tolbert of Callisburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Salaz was preceded in death by: mother Margaret Marquas; brother Lupe Salaz; brother David Salaz; brother Vincent Salaz; and sister Rita Cisneros.
