She has been a member of Daughters of the American Revolution since December 1973, serving in many capacities of the Rebecca Crockett chapter.
Sue and Ray raised their three sons on a dairy farm just south of Gainesville, so she knew a thing or two about hard work. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Ray Downe Sr., her children Lawrence Ray (Larry) Downe Jr. and wife Robin of Gainesville; David Michael Downe of Gainesville; and Brian Jeffrey Downe and wife Laurie of Argyle. Grandchildren include Aubry Downe of Argyle, Ashley and Justin Ott of Lake Kiowa, Miranda and Michael Cochran of Dallas, and Zachary Downe of Gainesville.
