Suzanne Tyler Mccann

December 31, 1960 — January 28, 2019

Suzanne Tyler McCann, 58, of Port Aransas, TX passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 in Gainesville.  She was born to William A. Tyler and Sara Billie (Tippit) Tyler in Gainesville, Texas on December 31, 1960.

She was a 1979 graduate of Gainesville High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a degree in business.

After college, she backpacked all over Europe.  Later she moved to Dallas and sold real estate.  She also spent a year and a half living in the Virgin Islands, working as a chef on a charter boat and enjoying island life.  Suzanne returned to Dallas where she met Charles B. McCann.  They married in April of 1991.

In 1995, they bought a sailboat and sailed the Caribbean for a few years.  Along the way they had their first daughter, Mary, who sailed with them on the boat.  They returned to Corpus Christi, TX and purchased the Jean Marie Gift store.  Her daughter, Melanie, was born in Corpus Christi.

In 2004, Suzanne and her family moved to Mountain Springs, TX.  The family lived on 10 acres and raised horses, a cow, and goats.  Suzanne loved milking the goats.  She enjoyed making cheese and yogurt from the fresh goat’s milk, as well as watching her daughters ride horses.  She started the group Keep Valley View Beautiful and was instrumental in procuring a grant for the community.

After moving to Port Aransas, TX in 2008 and attending massage school, she found her true passion in life of helping and healing others.  She loved teaching Qi Gong at the nature center, taking long walks on the beach and swimming in the ocean with her large goofy dog, Alex.

In 2017, she opened a shop to practice Craniosacral therapy and sell health products.

For the last year and a half, Suzanne worked to accomplish everything on her “Bucket List”.  She wrote a book Mindfulness & Ice Cream, Five Secrets for a Sweet Life .  She traveled to Mauritius, Africa where she and Melanie took Craniosacral classes, worked with lions, rhinos, lemurs and swam with wild dolphins.  For the 2017 Christmas season she traveled to Ireland and France with Mary and Melanie.

In May of 2018, Suzanne was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer.  Until recently, she worked a full massage schedule, remodeled a house damaged by Hurricane Harvey, and walked 3 miles on the beach daily.

Suzanne was a gifted healer and spent hundreds of hours reading books and taking classes to better her practice. She brought bliss, laughter, and happiness to those around her. She left no deed undone. She was hardworking, selfless, and above all, loving.
