Theodore "Ted" Henry Huettis, age 86, passed peacefully into the hands of God on Monday, June 7, 2021 after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with lung and brain cancer. Ted will be greatly missed by his family and his close group of friends. He was intelligent, thoughtful, faithful, committed to his family, and always focused on the bright side of life.
Ted was born on February 20, 1935 to Theodore and Clara Huettis in Brooklyn, New York where he was raised and became a tool and die maker/machinist. Ted married the love of his life, Alice Dingler of the Bronx, New York on April 7, 1956. They started their married life together in the Bronx. Then, they took an adventurous journey across the country to experience life in Sierra Madre, California where they spent the next 45 years together working and raising their family. Ted and Alice enjoyed raising their son and daughter, Glenn and Lynn. Ted worked in machining for the entire duration of his career and retired at the age of 65. After retirement in 2001, Ted and Alice moved to Lake Kiowa, Texas to be near their daughter Lynn Schneider and her family.
Ted and his wife, Alice, loved their retirement years in Lake Kiowa, as well as three years in Maui, Hawaii. He especially enjoyed his weekly men's bible study group, singing in the church choir, getting together with friends in the community, calling Bingo, and most of all living down the street from and spending time with his family.
Ted was a true gentleman, and a man of integrity. He loved the Lord and always took the time to get to know the people around him, especially each of his caretakers during the last few years of life. He had a warm smile, a tender heart, and bright blue eyes that were sure to light up any room.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Alice. His memory will be cherished by his surviving family: son, Glenn Huettis and wife, Jean of Vancouver, WA, grandson, Alex Huettis of Beaverton, OR. Daughter, Lynn Schneider of Lake Kiowa, TX, granddaughter and husband Lindsey and Evan Haines of Gig Harbor, WA and great grandchildren Donnivan and Ezekiel, granddaughter and husband, Rachel and Elliott Sullivan of Lake Kiowa, TX and great grandsons Truman and Winston (on the way). Ted will be remembered as a bright shining light in the various communities and churches that he served.
Ted's Celebration of Life details will be set in the weeks to come and communicated in the paper.
