Thelma Elizabeth Hosea

December 5, 1920 — March 24, 2021

Thelma went to be with the Lord on March 24,2021. She was born on December 5, 1920 to Maggie Weller Lorenz and Robert F. Lorenz in Toledo, Ohio.  She moved to Gainesville in 1959 when her husband John was transferred with National Supply.

Thelma worked as a realtor with Osborne-Hawkins Real Estate in the 1970’s and 1980’s.  She was an active member of First United Methodist church as well as an assistant leader for Camp Fire Girls.  She volunteered at Second Time Around Resale Shop and volunteered for over 30 years at Gainesville Memorial Hospital/ NTMC.

Thelma was known by her family and friends as being so very loving and kind.  She had such a great sense of humor and was a joy to be around. She was very generous and used her time and talents to help others.

Survivors include her daughters Kimberly Thorne and Valerie Shasteen, son Randy Hosea, grandchildren Ryan Smith, Cameron Smith, Michelle Wilson, Jennifer Chicas, Matt Shasteen, and Emily Shasteen.  She had 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Hosea and her sons-in-law Joe Thorne and Dale Shasteen.

A funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 27, 2021 with Rev. Adam Spore officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  A visitation will be held at the church starting an hour prior to the service.
