Mrs. Lehnertz passed away November 27, 2020 in Gainesville.
Terry was born April 10, 1919, in Wichita Falls, TX, the second of three daughters to Joseph F. and Emilie M. (Duderstadt) Hirscy. She attended and graduated from the Academy of Mary Immaculate in Wichita Falls, TX. In her youth, Terry developed skills in piano, acting, and dancing. Terry had fond memories of attending dances at Camp Howze in the 1940s. She married Gilbert I. “Jimmy” Lehnertz on August 27, 1946 in Muenster. Mrs. Lehnertz spoiled her family with many cakes and pastries, using the baking skills she had learned from her parents in the Hirscy family’s bakery business. Her children also remember Mrs. Lehnertz for the great pride she took in her appearance. Mrs. Lehnertz worked a crossword puzzle daily and was also an avid reader and fan of Jeopardy!. Even at 101 years of age, she was still aware of her surroundings and mentally sharp. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include: daughter, Terry Utley and husband, George of Ellinwood, KS; daughter, Cheryl Lehnertz of Addison; son, Jimmy J. Lehnertz and wife, Sandra of Gainesville; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
