Tom H. Wolfe of Decatur, TX, formerly of Gainesville, TX, was born on December 20, 1927, in Emory, Texas. He was the 7th son to H.W. “Hub” and Ora Pearl Campbell Wolfe. He was raised in Thackerville, OK along with his 9 brothers and 1 sister.
The “Wolfe boys” loved hunting and especially fishing together and were always getting into trouble somewhere, somehow. Many of their weekends together were spent “on the river,” grabbling and running trot lines. They all loved playing 42 and included their little sister in this.
Tom served in the Navy at the end of WWII. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor in 1945, following the infamous attack.
In 1948 Tom met and married Violet James, of Kentucky. Tom and Violet just celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on October 6th. Together they had five children that they raised in Gainesville, Texas. As a family they enjoyed time together boating, fishing, and skiing.
Tom loved watching the Rangers, tending his vegetable garden, and having coffee while playing cards and dominos at the VFW. He spent most of his working career as a boilermaker leading a loyal group of men all over the USA, building processing towers in chemical plants. He retired at a young 62 and spent a lot of time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who all loved being with their “Papa Wolfe.”
Tom went to be with the Lord on October 8, 2021. He will be greatly missed but is leaving behind a wonderful legacy. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Violet; his son, L.T. “Tommy” Wolfe & wife, Marti of New Castle, CO; daughter, Donna Buttrill of Melissa, TX; son, Sam Wolfe and wife, Janna of Whitesboro, TX; daughter, Wendy Trammell and husband, Randy of Decatur, TX; grandchildren, Brenda (Tim) Morrow; Melissa (Harlan) Hobson; Jake Wolfe; Tyler Wolfe; Misty (Simon) Terry; Kayli (Johnny) Daniels; Eric (Brittany) Gaston; Heath Wolfe; Seth (Jordan)Wolfe; Becca (Trey) Dunn; Brittney (Josh) Yoder; Stacey (John) Ingham; 24 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren & another on the way; sister, Helen Rogers of Plainview, Tx, & many nieces and nephews.
