Victoria Self, 91, longtime resident of Gainesville, passed away October 28, 2023 in Richardson.
Victoria was born December 20, 1931 in Scotland, TX, the fifth of twelve children. She married Ted Schniederjan in 1949 and had eleven children. Years after Ted’s passing in 1966, she married Elmo Self. Mrs. Self was active in many ministries at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a nursing aid local hospitals and nursing homes. She will be fondly remembered as a faithful and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, prayer warrior, and friend to so many.
Mrs. Self is survived by: son Patrick Schniederjan (Karen) of Grand Junction, CO; daughter Carolyn Rekerdres (Ted) of Sante Fe, NM; son Robert Schniederjan (Jay) of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter Cindy Grosch (Jon) of San Marcos, TX; daughter Helen Allison (Charlie) of Richardson, TX; son Adam Schniederjan (Renee) of Muenster, TX; son Phil Schniederjan (Tania) of Trophy Club, TX; son John Schniederjan (Caryn) of Plano, TX; daughter Clair Holland (David) of Racine, WI; 29 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; sister Lydia Garraway of Montgomery, AL; sister Millie Kessler of Gainesville; sister Patsy Lutkenhaus (Sheldon) of Gainesville; sister-in-law Virginia Krahl of Gainesville; sister-in-law LaChrista Krahl of Gainesville.
Mrs. Self was preceded in death by: parents Jospeh and Elizabeth (Prescher) Krahl; husband Ted Schniederjan; husband Elmo Self; son Mike Schniederjan; daughter Valery Schniederjan Smith; grandson Tony Schniederjan; brother Martin Krahl; brother Eddie Krahl; sister Mary Sicking; brother George Krahl; brother Jimmy Krahl; and brother Steve Krahl.
A Rosary Service, with visitation to follow, will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 6, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Gainesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or School.
