Vivian Elaine Tanner, 77, of Plano, Texas passed away March 1, 2025 at Baylor Scott & White
Medical Center of Mckinney, Texas. She was born on July 2, 1947 in Gainesville, Texas to Rex
and Lena “Christine” (Gregory) Crow.
Elaine graduated from Gainesville High School in 1965 and attended TWU in Denton. She
married John Tanner on May 10, 2014. She started her career working in the shoe factory in
Gainesville and continued her career as a secretary for Dallas Gas and Electric. She excelled
into a career over the years as the SVP at Bank of America and Wells Fargo. She attended First
Baptist church and converted to be Mormon in 1983. She then went back to being a Baptist as
it was her true religion she loved dearly but was just happy to attend services at any
church. She loved to dance and be with friends and always made anyone feel like they were the
only one in the room. She loved her fancy cars and always had a taste for the good life. She
was instrumental in raising quarter horses to race at Lone Star Park, and also received her
Cessna Pilot’s License in her late 40’s. She enjoyed her time as a mother, a grandmother and a
great grandmother and never missed any events for her family.
Elaine is survived by her husband, John Tanner, her daughter, Denese Couch and husband Roy
Couch, and her son, Dennis Parchman and wife Wendy Parchman. Her Grandchildren; Jordan
Collins and husband Julian Collins, Alexis Strenger and her boyfriend Jake Kowaleski, Eric Siegler
and wife Megan, and Skyler Mauro. And her great grandson, Hendrix Collins. Her Stepchildren;
JB Tanner and wife Gayle Tanner, Mary Wilson and husband Bo Wilson. Her step grandchildren;
Jack and Regan Tanner, and Allie, Kate and Noah Wilson and all the Adams family kids,
grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who she adored and loved as her own.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home,
Gainesville, Texas with visitation beginning at noon and Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery of Gainesville.
