Wanda Sluder Kidd

Funeral services for Wanda Sluder Kidd, 92, of Bedford, formerly of Gainesville, will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Eddie Chennault officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Temple Baptist Church.

Wanda was the youngest of six children born to Ervin and Fannie Harper Sluder on September 4, 1928 in the Hood Community of Cooke County, Texas. She graduated from Era High School in 1945. She married her high school sweetheart, Virgil Kidd on December 10, 1945. Virgil was serving in the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed in San Juan, Puerto Rico where they started their first home. Their first child, Nancy, was born there in 1945 and they returned to Gainesville where their son, Don, was born in 1951.
