Wilfred Francis Hess

Funeral Mass for Wilfred Francis Hess, 87, of Gainesville is set for 10:00 AM Monday, July 13, 2020 at the St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Tatyrek officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will be held 50 minutes prior to the Mass, at 9:10 AM Monday, July 13, 2020 at the church.

Wilfred was born on April 8, 1933 in Muenster to John Joseph Hess and Edna Margaret (Bischoff) Hess. He passed away on July 7, 2020 in Gainesville.

Wilfred served in the United States Army from 1953 - 1955. He was a produce manager for Kroger for 21 years. Following that,  Wilfred and his wife, Virginia, were co-owners/operators along with Leroy and Dolores Neu, of LW's Liquor Store in Lindsay until his retirement in 1985. Wilfred was also a farmer his entire life.

Wilfred is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia Hess of Gainesville; daughter Sharon Reed and her husband David of Austin; son Rickey Hess and his wife Donna of Lindsay; daughter Lisa Rohmer and her husband Terry of Muenster; grandchildren Cody Hess and wife Lana, Anthony Reed and wife Claire, Amy Patelis and husband Steve, Kayla Felderhoff and husband Travis, Delana Waggoner and husband Kyle, Clayton Rohmer, and Brianna Rohmer; great-grandchildren James Felderhoff, Ava Hess, Devyn Hess, Charlotte Patelis, and Charlie Reed.  He is also survived by his sister Wanda Hermes of Lindsay; sister Dolores Neu and her husband Leroy of Lindsay; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother John Louis Hess; brother Alfred Hess; and sister Marcy Metzler.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peter's Catholic Church Restoration Fund, or Home Hospice of Cooke County.
