William “Bill” Dickerson

William “Bill” VanOrsdel Dickerson, beloved husband, father, and PawPaw, passed away on August 12, 2023, at the age of 69 in Gainesville, TX, after a battle with cancer that was fought with courage and a fierce love for his family.

Bill was born in Los Angeles, CA, on November 7, 1953, and moved to Gainesville in 1971 after he graduated from high school in Scottsdale, Arizona. He married the love of his life, Rebecca “Becky” Ann Mitchell on April 7, 1973, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Together they had two sons, Derek and Trevor. Bill began his own business, Dickerson’s Bookkeeping Service, where he served many clients throughout Gainesville and as far away as New Mexico for forty years.

He is survived by his wife, Becky; son Derek and his wife Anna and two grandchildren, Sammie and Eliot; youngest son Trevor and his wife Jenny; sister Catherine “Kitty” Cromwell and her husband Mark, and brother Tad and his wife Katherine. Bill’s memory and love runs deep through the current of his family, carrying them forward.

Bill will be honored during a visitation time for family and friends on Saturday, Aug. 19th from 2-4 PM at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to cancer research.
