William “Bill” Ted Koziol

William Ted Koziol “Bill”, 71, joined his Lord and Savior on July 4, 2019. He passed away peacefully at his home in Lake Kiowa with his loving wife and friends by his side. He was born in Marshall, Michigan to the late Thaddeus Walter and Elenora Evelyn (Connelly) Koziol. Bill leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Genny (Firlit), brother, Allan Koziol, sisters Kay (the late James) Moore, Barbara (the late Guy) Jordan, sister-in-law Tanya Firlit, niece Jennifer (Neil) Johnson, nephew Guy Jordan and great nephew Jagger Johnson.
Bill grew up in Marshall, Michigan and attended Marshall High School, Kellogg Community College, and the University of Michigan. He moved to Dallas, Texas in 1972, where he met his wife, Genny. They were married August 5th 1977 and continued to reside in Dallas until moving to Lake Kiowa, Texas in 1998.

He began his long career in the building industry in Marshall, Michigan as an Architectural Draftsman, then as a Designer and Engineering Manager and a member of the Board of Directors for Permabilt Homes. He then became a Construction Manager for L.J. Eaton Contractors, Inc. In 1972 he moved to Dallas, Texas as a Project Manager and Sales Consultant with Marshall Erdman & Associates, a construction firm specializing in the design, engineering and construction of medical and office buildings. In 1976 he joined Sunnyvale Building Co. a Division of Landmark Properties & Vernon and James Smith. In 1978 he joined Folsom Investments as a Project Manager with Spring Valley Construction, and in 1979 became Senior Vice President of Construction for Bent Tree & Prestige Condominiums. In 1983 He became Senior Vice President of Realty Construction Corporation a division of Realty Development Corporation and in l984, along with Robert B. Rollings he formed Bentwood Construction Company and as President focused on commercial construction in the Dallas Metroplex. He continued his building career for several years with Bob Thompson Custom Homes, where as Vice President he oversaw the building of the Neiman Marcus Show Home and Troy Aikman’s Plano home. After moving to Lake Kiowa in 1998 he founded William George Homes and designed, built or remodeled over 25 homes at Lake Kiowa. In 2007 he introduced a new concept in residential construction the EasyLivingHomecm Texas program designed to make new homes more user friendly for people of all ages and populations. In December 2017 Bill officially retired and closed William George Homes.
He was a member of the National Trap Association, Rotary (Michigan), Texas Horticulture Society, Farmer’s Branch Softball League, Dallas Ski Club, Episcopal Softball League (Dallas), the National Association of Home Builders, Men’s Golf Association (Lake Kiowa) and Kiwanis (Lake Kiowa). He loved gardening and cooking and creating special dishes for his friends and neighbors.
Always active in church Bill was a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas and after moving to Lake Kiowa became a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Gainesville. Above all he was a true man of God, caring and loving and always ready and willing to help anyone in need. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Mathew 25:23
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00, Monday, July 8 at Geo. J Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 at St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Gainesville.
