Winston Jay Reed

Winston Jay Reed, 88, of Gainesville, Texas, passed away at his home December 1, 2024.

He was born on September 12,1936 to Cash Rankin Reed and Winnie Julia (Williams) Reed in Nocona, Texas. Winston graduated from Prairie Valley High School.

Winston married Patsy Lou Lemons on September 26, 1957.

A good portion of his life was spent working in the oilfield supply business. Later he worked for Reed Wood Shavings for over 20 years. He enjoyed raising cattle, hunting, fishing and spending time with his dog, Lou.

Winston was a long-time member of Hillcrest Church of Christ in Gainesville and most recently of the Callisburg Church of Christ.

Surviving Winston are his wife of 67 years, Patsy Reed; Son Rodney Reed and wife JoyceAnn of South Fork, Colorado, Daughter Rhonda Beam of Gainesville and Son Randell Reed and wife Kelly of Callisburg; Grandchildren Rachel Harred (husband Russell), Remington Reed, Mallori Beam, Markie Beam, Morgan Roberson (husband Corey), Madison Weaver (husband Seth) and Ryder Reed. Winston is also survived by 6 great grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cash and Winnie Reed; brother C.R. Reed and his wife Zelma and brother Jarrett Reed.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Callisburg Church of Christ with Ben Willingham officiating.  Burial will follow in Callisburg Cemetery.  A visitation will start at 10:00 AM at the church, prior to the funeral.
