Zona Mae Thurman

Zona Mae Thurman passed away on December 4, 2020 in Gainesville, Texas at the age of 88, with family by her side. She was born June 24th, 1932 to Roy and Rachel Reynolds in Thackerville, Oklahoma. She attended Gainesville High School. After High School she went on to be an LVN at Gainesville Convalescent Center for 17 years. Zona Mae married Dale Thurman on January 14, 1969. After retirement, they spent their time farming and raising cattle on the family farm.

Zona Mae is survived by her Husband, Dale. Daughters, Michele Skaggs of Kingston, OK, Gail Bilbay (and son-in-law Ralph) of Kingston, OK, Cynthia Hale of Gainesville TX. Stepsons, Mike (and daughter-in-law Wanda) of Callisburg, TX, Paul Thurman (and daughter-in-law Pam) of Sherman, TX, James Thurman, and Step Daughter LouAnn Thurman of Gainesville TX.  She was blessed with 28 Grandkids, 78 great-grandkids, 5 great-great grandkids (and one on the way), and an abundance of nieces and nephews.

Zona Mae was proceeded in death by her parents, Roy and Rachel Reynolds. Sons, Michael and Terry Skaggs. Son-in-law, Jimmy Hale. Brothers, James and Walter (Buster) Reynolds. Sisters, Willie Ohlson, and Oleata McAffee. Grandson, Shawn Kvale.

Zona was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation. She was a member of the Baptist Church Community. She enjoyed quilting, camping, and spending time with her kids and grandkids.

A funeral service for Zona Mae will be held on Tuesday December 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Bro David Whittington officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
